SALIENT TECHNICAL FEATURES
Subject: Trestle Package for Elephant Movement in Forest Area of
Mine Void Filling Project of TSTPS Kaniha
NTPC Ltd., New Delhi has set up a coal fired Thermal Power Station at Kaniha (
Talcher ) in Angul District of Odisha, for supplying power to cater to the needs of
Eastern Region and Southern Region and other interconnected grids. The station
comprises s ix unit of 500 MW and hence, the total capacity of the plant as on date is
3000MW ( Stage-I comprises 2 units & Stage-II comprises 4 units )
Site Locations and
Approach
The site is bound by Tikra Nadi towards North and West, villages Gadashila and
Rangabera and Brahmani River towards east and NH-200 from Deogarh to Talcher
towards south.
The average ground level is much higher than the maximum WL of Samal
reservoir which is RL + 79.5 m.
The nearest rail head is Talcher railway station of South Eastern Railway at a distance
of about
30 KM from the power station. The power station has Railway Siding of about 35
KM and is connected with the Talcher Railway station. The power station is
adjacent to NH-200 which runs from Talcher to Deogarh. The rail and road distances of

The works shall have to be carried out both below and above ground level and
shall be involving, beams, columns, footings, rafts, steel frames, structures, walk
ways, platform, access ladder as per BOQ items, drawings and specifications. The
scope also covers all civil works associated with Foundations for Trestle structures
including all materials, labour, Tools and plants.
1. The scope includes procurement ,fabrication and erection of trestles along with all
related civil works to complete the package.
2. The scope includes procurement of all steel structural materials like Girders,
Beams, channels, Angles, plates, cement, reinforcement steel and any other
materials required for completion of TRESTLE (PIPE SUPPORTING
STRUCTURES) .
3. The work is to be carried in Reserve Forest areas and agency shall be required to
follow all conditions and rules as applicable as per directions of Forest dept
Govt of odisha/MOEF Govt of India.

5. The drawing & design of trestle structures is in scope of NTPC. The agency shall
be required to execute the work as per BOQ provided. The method of
measurement of work shall be as per CPWD specification & standard engineering
practice.
6. Sources of supply: All materials like cement ,Reinforcement steel , structural steel
, paints to be arranged by the contractor and from NTPC approved sources
confirming to relevant IS Codes.
7. Approval of any materials by the Engineer-In-Charge shall not relieve the
contractor of his responsibility, for the requisite quality and performance of the
materials used.
