Salient Technical Features
1.0 The broad scope of works under R&M of Fire Detection and Protection System
Package include design, engineering, manufacture, testing at works, supply,
delivery and storage at site, erection, testing and commissioning of all fire
detection and protection system for areas/equipments, as detailed hereunder:
2.0 BRIEF DESCRIPTIOIN OF FIRE DETECTION AND PROTECTION SYSTEM:
The complete Fire Detection and Protection System shall be as per
guidelines/codes/standards/rules of TAC/NFPA/IS:3034/OISD, etc.
A comprehensive fire detection and protection system shall be provided by the
bidder in-line with above regulations broadly covering following areas with
equipment detailed below:
(a) Replacement of halon based fire protection system with inert gas fire
extinguishing system:
(1) One (1) independent Inert gas system comprising of Inert gas cylinders
complete with gas & gas manifold, piping, various valves, pneumatic /
electric actuating devices, directional valves, nozzles & other accessories
for control equipment rooms of Unit-6 & 7, Programmer room of unit,
Common control room of unit-6 & 7, etc. located at 17.0 M EL. and CER,
UPS Room, Charger room, etc. located at 8.5 M EL. in main plant
building of Stage-II.
(2) One (1) independent Inert gas system comprising of Inert gas cylinders
complete with gas & gas manifold, piping, various valves, pneumatic /
electric actuating devices, directional valves, nozzles & other accessories
for Server Room, Satcom Room, UPS room, etc. located at 0.0 M EL. in
IT Building.
(b) Hydrant System:
(1) Internal hydrant system consisting of landing valves, hoses, branch pipe
& nozzle, hose box, etc. for staircase landings at various floors of existing
service building & administrative building.
(2) Internal hydrant system consisting of landing valves, hoses, branch pipe
& nozzle, hose box, etc. high rise conveyors (height greater than 30M) of
Stage-II.
(3) Water monitors with accessories and an isolation valve for coal stockyard
area.
(c) MVW Spray System:
(1) MVW spray system comprising of deluge valves, isolation valves,
strainers, nozzles, piping, etc. for cable galleries in TG building of Stage-II
and cable gallery in Switchyard building.
(2) MVW spray system comprising of deluge valves, isolation valves,
strainers, nozzles, QBDs, piping, etc. for the various coal conveyors,
bunker conveyors & TPs, crusher house of Stage-II.
(d) Foam Protection System:
(1) Automatic fixed foam protection system (Skid mounted foam bladder tank
assembly) for two (2) HPS Day Tanks.
(2) Automation of existing manual fixed foam protection system provided for
HFO tanks.
(e) Electrical and C&I works:
(1) Analogue addressable type fire alarm system consisting of multisensor
type detectors, LHSC detector, Infra-red type heat detectors, cabling,
junction boxes, instrumentation, fire alarm cum control panels, PC based
monitoring stations, repeater panels, micro-PLC panel, etc. for various
areas/equipment.
(2) Instruments, cables and cabling for the complete fire detection, alarm &
protection system.
(3) Interfacing of inert gas system panels with FAPs located in CER for
alarms consisting of interconnection cables, modules and connectivity.
(4) 415V fixed type AC distribution board, earthing protection, etc.
(f) Civil Works:
(1)Construction of pipe pedestals & deluge valves (DVs) housings.
(2)Construction of structural steel shed with MS sheet roof for bladder tank
type foam system.
(3)Construction of structural steel shed with MS sheet roof & PCC flooring
raised by 100 mm above FGL for inert gas storage cylinders.
(4)Supply & erection of metal cladding partition for above false ceiling area
and supply, fabrication & erection of structural support required for
supporting metal cladding partition.
(5)Other minor civil works like excavation, preparation of bed, laying,
backfilling with compaction of soil for all underground/buried piping and
making opening in walls, floors, etc. for routing of piping.
(g) Dismantling of existing sprinkler system provided for following
areas/equipments Building and stacking of the same as per instructions of
Engineer-In-Charge:
(1) Cable galleries at EL. (+) 5.5M & EL. (+)13.5M in Main Plant.
(2) Coal conveyors, transfer points and Crusher House in coal handling plant
of Stage-II.
(h) Dismantling of existing halon based fire protection system provided for areas
to be protected with inert gas extinguishing system is in the scope of
Contractor and stacking of the same as per instructions of Engineer-In-
Charge including transfer of Halon to Halon Bank located at Centre for Fire,
Explosive & Environment Safety (CFEES), Lucknow Road, Delhi after
dismantling of same.
(i) Dismantling & disposing the existing ionization type detectors to concerned
Govt. agency (BARC, Mumbai).
