Project: Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Plant, Stage-I (2X110 MW)

Package: " STARTER ASH DYKE FOR LAGOON-III AND AUGMENTATION &

STRENGTHENING OF EXISTING ASH DYKE FOR LAGOON-I&II

SALIENT TECHNICAL FEATURES

“Salient Technical Features of the equipment/systems/services covered in IFB no. 40063272 dated 20.09.2016 are mentioned below. These Salient Technical Features are mentioned only to facilitate the prospective bidders to prima-facie understand the requirements under the tender and shall not in any way limit or alter the scope of work and technical features/specification of equipment/systems/services covered in the Bidding Documents. Detailed provisions in regard of scope of work and technical features/specification of equipment/systems/services, contained in the Bidding Documents shall be final and binding.”

The ash dyke area is in between plant and Budhi Gandak river, however, the topography of the proposed area is moderately undulating. The total length of the dyke is estimated to be about 8.1 km. The maximum height of starter dyke and divide bund to be constructed with earth considered in the estimate is about 8.5m. Scope of work also involves construction of rock toe, toe drain and rip rap for downstream slope protection works of dyke embankment.

As the ash is being continuously disposed and evacuated in the lagoon-II and flowing towards lagoon-I, so the average levels of the ash bed is changing. The base level of proposed ash dyke is lower than HFL for which provision of rock rip rap is envisaged. Stone columns using dry vibro displacement technique/rammed method is considered for ground improvement for Augmentation & Strengthening of existing Ash Dyke for Lagoon-I&II. The extent of ground improvement has been decided based on the height of embankment.

All construction works shall be carried out based on the drawings which are released by the owner for construction.
