ASH DYKE PACKAGE

“Salient Technical Features of the equipment/systems/services covered in IFB No.0040061662 are mentioned below. These Salient Technical Features are mentioned only to facilitate the prospective bidders to prima-facie understand the requirements under the tender and shall not in any way limit or alter the scope of work and technical features/specification of equipment/ systems/ services covered in the Bidding Documents. Detailed provisions in regard of scope of work and technical features/specification of equipment/systems/services, contained in the Bidding Document shall be final and binding.”

BRIEF SCOPE OF WORK:

The scope of works involves construction of two storage lagoons for Bottom ash and one storage lagoon for Fly ash & a common over flow lagoon for the collection of decanted water from lagoons. Construction of well type water escape structure with flexible opening is also envisaged for decanting water from storage lagoons to over flow lagoon. Construction of spillways is also envisaged for discharging excess rain water from storage lagoons to OFL/RCC perimeter drain and from OFL to the existing drainage. Scope of works also include construction of protective bund between dyke embankment and reservoir. Scope of this package also include the construction of WBM two lane access road from main State Highway to proposed ash dyke area.

The detailed scope and description of work covered under this package has been specified in relevant clauses of Part-A of Technical specifications.

DETAILED SCOPE OF WORK.

The scope and description of work covered under this package has been specified in relevant clause of Technical specifications. However, the Contractor may note the brief description of works of this package as below:

The proposed ash dyke area is adjacent to the upstream of balancing reservoir of existing RSTPS. The scheme for ash disposal envisages one storage lagoon for disposal of fly ash and two storage lagoons for bottom ash disposal & an over flow lagoon (common for all) for collecting the decanted water from lagoons. The topography of the proposed ash dyke areas is undulating. Ground level is varying from RL 160M to 180M. As the ash dyke is closed to existing balancing reservoir, to protect the ash dyke embankment from reservoir water it is proposed to construct one protective bund with impervious core. The total length of the starter dyke including protective bund for both the dykes is estimated to be about 11150M. Construction of well type water escape structure with flexible opening is also envisaged for decanting water from storage lagoons to over flow lagoon. Decanted water from storage lagoons through RCC well will be collected into over flow lagoon (OFL). Construction of spillways is also envisaged for discharging excess rain water from storage lagoons to OFL/RCC perimeter drain and from OFL to the existing drainage. Scope of work also involves construction of rock toe, toe drain and rip rap for down stream slope protection works of dyke embankment. Impervious lining to bed of storage lagoons and OFL with bentonite blended soil is also envisaged under scope of this package. Construction of bituminous inspection road and RCC perimeter drain all around the periphery of the dykes is also under the scope of this package. Scope of this package also include the construction of WBM two lane access road from main State Highway to proposed ash dyke area.

All construction works shall be carried out based on the drawings which are released by the owner for construction.
