Criteria for Wind Resistant Design of Structures and Equipment

All structures and equipment of the illumination system shall be designed for wind forces as given below.

Site Specific Design Parameters

The various design parameters, as defined in IS: 875 (Part-3), to be adopted for the project site shall be as follows:

a) The basic wind speed “Vb” at ten meters above the mean ground level: 39 meters/second

b) The risk coefficient “K1”: 1.06

c) Category of terrain: Category-2

Note: Notwithstanding the values of the above mentioned parameters, the design wind pressure so computed at any point shall not be taken less than 1500 N/Sq. meter for all classes of structures, i.e. A, B & C, as defined in IS:875 (Part-3).

All structures shall be designed for wind forces in accordance with IS:875 (Part-3) and complete design document shall be submitted for the owner`s approval.

Criteria for Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures and Equipment

All equipment and structures of flood lighting including lighting masts, luminaries and other accessories to be mounted at height shall be designed to withstand seismic criteria as per IS 1893.

LIGHTING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The illumination of the stadium shall be provided as described here. The lighting system of various areas shall be normal AC lighting system 415V, 3Phase, 4wire, will be fed from feeder panels.

Pole Positioning

  • Symmetrical Arrangement

  • Floodlights to be positionedat four locations around the oval to achieve uniform lighting level over the area.

  • No pole should be located within an area subtended by a 30 degree angle on both sides from the centre of the field measured to a line parallel to the wicket(s) axis.

  • Poles setbacks from poles to boundary of field may also be need to be considered depending on the feasibility of the foundation of the mast

  • The agency shall survey the actual site conditions before freezing the locations of the masts

Reference Area

Infield 27.4 x 27.4 meters minimum.

Outfield – remainder of oval area.

Lighting Calculation Grid

2x2 mt for infield / 10x10 mt for outfield

Minimum Height of Floodlights / Poles

The recommended minimum pole height (h) shall be to be at a height such that an angle formed by a line from the lowest floodlight (on the mast) and the horizontal plane dimension (d) from the centre of the oval plus setbacks is not less than 25° or a minimum of 30 mts mounting height from playing surface to the lowest mounted floodlight whichever is the greater.

The agency may use longer lighting mast so as to achieve the required uniformity/lux level/glare rating

Calculated glare rating should also be taken into consideration. Aviation authority requirements also to be considered where ever necessary

Table Notes:

The floodlighting installation shall have minimal adverse effects of obtrusive and spill lighting in respect to adjoining properties.
