NTPC intends to import coal on ‘CIF’ basis at various ports in India. The total quantity of imported coal is expected to be ~ 14 million tons every year. NTPC is looking at selection of associate(s) who would be willing to transport the coal from these ports to NTPC’s stations.

The scope of work envisaged is as follows:

1.1 To receive the ships carrying imported coal at designated discharge port in India from coal supplier on behalf of NTPC. Associate (s) shall act as custom clearance and freight forwarding agency on behalf of NTPC Ltd and shall carry out documentation and liaison with Customs, Port authorities for clearance of cargo including filling of Bill of Entries and completion of final assessment for facilitating payment of Custom duty by NTPC.

1.2 Discharge port activities like berthing of vessels, stevedoring, handling etc.

1.3 To handle port operations like forwarding of coal including plot arrangement, internal shifting of cargo to plot, storage of cargo, watch & ward, arrangement for rakes from Railways, wagon loading as per railway rules for transportation of coal to NTPC power stations. Tracking/ Monitoring of rake movement to NTPC stations.

1.4 Unloading of Coal at NTPC power stations’ end from Railway Wagons shall be arranged by NTPC.

1.5 Demurrage due to delayed unloading of coal at Discharge Port, customs clearance, port handling, delay in loading of railway rakes etc shall be that of the associate (s). All the responsibilities of bearing loss due to theft, transportation loss etc will be that of the associate (s).
