SALIENT TECHNICAL FEATURES
(OVERHAULING OF BOTTOM ASH & FLY ASH SYSTEM, STAGE-II)
NTPC Talcher-Kaniha (TSTPS) plant is located in Kaniha block under Talcher sub-division of Angul district in the state of Odisha.

STAGE - I - 2 Units each 500 MW - Total 1000 MW
STAGE- II - 4 Units each 500 MW - Total 2000 MW
The equipment under consideration consists of
1. Bottom ash system in stage-II consist of dry bottom, water impacted bottom ash hoppers, clinker crusher and accessories supplied by M/S DCIPS.
2. Fly ash system in stage-II consist of ESP and APH hoppers evacuation system consisting of valves, ash conveying lines, collecting tank and associated equipments supplied by M/S TECPRO.
In general the contract involves carrying out of various overhauling works inside the Bottom Ash hopper, Clinker Crushers and Feed Gates and Fly ash system for two units of stage-II during their scheduled periodical overhauling for a period of six months.
Overhauling jobs include erection & removal of scaffolding for inspection & refractory job, refractory removal by chipping and application of castable refractory thereafter by gunning machine. It also involves repair of refractory cooling header & its pipes including cleaning of header. Overhauling of BAH feed gates, replacement of clinker crushers, including replacement of feed sump, jetpulsion pump, gearbox and fluid coupling. The job involves dismantling, servicing and reassembling and re-fixing the components like valves, bends, nozzles, pipes and fittings, etc. in both fly ash and bottom ash systems.
Most of the work will be carried above normal height. Hence, workers need to have adequate skill and must be insured and informed to safely work in challenging conditions. Moreover mobilization is required at a very short notice keeping in mind the generation interests of the corporation. Contractor is required to arrange for the tools and tackles, welding machines, refractory gunning machine with experienced operators and consumables like gases and welding electrodes, cotton waste and cleaning agents required for the job as per the scope of work.
To meet the requirements arising out of emergency situations and for any other jobs not listed in the scheduled BOQ, the contractor has to deploy extra man days as per the instruction of EIC.
