SALIENT TECHNICAL FEATURES
(Ash Handling Plant of Stage-II Units)
NTPC Talcher-Kaniha (TSTPS) plant is located in Kaniha block under Talcher sub-division of Angul district in the state of Orissa.

Nearest Airport : Bhubaneswar 180 KMs
STAGE - I - 2 Units each 500 MW - Total 1000 MW
STAGE- II - 4 Units each 500 MW - Total 2000 MW
There are 04 nos. of ash slurry disposal line of MS pipe of size 400NB in stage-I and 06 nos. of ash slurry disposal line of MS pipe of size 450NB in stage-II for transporting ash slurry from stage-I/Stage-II pump house to ash dyke. The stage-I pipe lines were laid along the river bank while the stage-II pipe lines were laid along the road side corridor. There are 2 Nos. of ash water recirculation line of stage-II each having size of 700NB in between Stage-I & Stage-II pipe lines and one ash water recirculation line of stage-I having size of 600NB in between river bank and Stage-I pipe lines. There is no approach road along the river bank. The length of each disposal pipe lines from boundary wall to stage-II Y point is 6.6 KM (Approx). The equipments under consideration are Ash Slurry Disposal pipe line of stage-II from stage-I Y point to stage-1 civil kudia.
The job includes removal of MS pipes in the Ash disposal system of stage-II from stage-I Y point to stage-1 civil kudia and erection of new basalt pipe. The basalt pipes will have collars on both the ends. The pipes will be welded at the collars. So proper alignment of basalt pipes are very important while laying.
