(ABRIDGED INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST)
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) FOR ONLINE CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF PM 2.5 &
PM 10 IN THE STACK EMISSION OF THERMAL POWER STATIONS OF NTPC
Detailed invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) for online continuous
monitoring of PM 2.5 & PM 10 in the Stack emission of Thermal Power Stations of
NTPC
1.0 INTRODUCTION :
NTPC, a Maharatna Company, is India’s largest energy conglomerate with roots planted way back
in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. Since then it has established itself as the
dominant power major, with presence in the entire value chain of the power generation business.
From fossil fuels, it has forayed into generating electricity via hydro, nuclear and renewable energy
sources. The total installed capacity of the company is 53,651 MW (including JVs) with 21 coal
based, 7 gas based stations, 1 Hydro based station and 1 Wind based station. 9 Joint Venture
stations are coal based and 11 Solar PV projects. The capacity will have a diversified fuel mix and
by 2032, non fossil fuel based generation capacity shall make up nearly 30% of NTPC’s portfolio.
Most of the power generation of NTPC is from coal based thermal power stations, at present.
NTPC has always been forerunner in complying with stringent environmental norms. Various
measurements like SO2, NOX, CO, CO2, Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM) and Mercury are
envisaged in stacks of NTPC thermal power projects for complying the environmental norms
Measurement of particulate concentration like PM10 and PM2.5 is generally associated with the
potential damaging effects they can have on human body. Further as per CPCB guidelines
monitoring of particulate matters especially PM2.5 & PM 10 measurement in the ambient is a
statutory requirement for all the industry. Considering the above facts, continuous online
measurement of PM10 and PM2.5 in ambient air is envisaged and installed in all the thermal
power stations of NTPC from 2007 onwards.
2.0 RECENT DEVELOPMENT:
As per Environmental clearance issued by MOEF for various NTPC stations viz.
Lara,Gadarwara, Kudgi, Tanda,Khargone, Meja, Nabinagar it is necessary that stacks
shall be provided with continuous online monitoring equipment for SOX, NOX, PM 2.5
and PM10. At present, continuous online measurement of SOX, NOX and Suspended
Particulate Matter (Total Suspended Particles) is envisaged in stacks of all NTPC
projects(from 2014 onwards). Through this EOI, NTPC desires to assess the domestic
and international market to identify probable dust analyser manufacturer/supplier,
interested to supply continuous measurement of PM10 and PM 2.5 for stack emission
of NTPC thermal power projects.
