ROTOR REFURBISHMENT WORK

Introduction:

NTPC Limited is the largest power generating company of India. It was incorporated in the year 1975, with the objective of planning, promoting and organizing an integrated development of power stations in India. It has today emerged as an ‘Integrated Power Major’, with a significant presence in the entire value chain of power generation business, with a current generating capacity of more than 47,000 MW.

Auraiya Gas Power Station is one of the gas station of NTPC Ltd. There are four numbers of Gas Turbines of capacity 112.9 MW (OC) each and two numbers of Steam Turbines of capacity 109.2 MW. OEM of machines is M/S MHI Japan. Gas Turbine rotor is refurbished in every 80,000 to 1, 00,000 Equivalent operating hours (EOH) to maintain turbine reliability. One of the GT rotor has completed its life and needs its refurbishment (Comprehensive Rotor Inspection i.e. CRI).

NTPC invites Expression of Interest from reputed vendors in India who have experience in executing the contracts for Rotor refurbishment of industrial Gas Turbines.

Scope of Work:

About the Rotor:

Gas turbine rotor consists compressor part and turbine part, coupled together with bolted coupling, called marriage coupling. Compressor is of 19 stages and discs of compressor are shrink fitted on central hollow shaft. Turbine is of four (4) stages, discs of turbine are clamped together with ten (10) number tie bolts. Physical detail of the rotor is as under-

1.1Total length: 10000 MM (approx.)

1.2Total weight (bladed rotor): 56 Tons (Approx.)

1.3Maximum diameter of bladed rotor: 2820 MM (at turbine end)

1.4Diameter of rotor journal: 484 MM

Note: Dimensional drawing of Gas Turbine rotor to be refurbished is attached for reference purpose.

The brief scope of work for CRI of Gas Turbine rotor is given below.

a.Run out checking of combined rotor on lathe

b.Removing of GT- Compressor marriage coupling cover plate.

c.Removal of coupling bolt (72 nos) of the marriage coupling.

d.De coupling of GT-compressor rotor on lathe by providing roller support below the coupling flange

e.Run out checking of compressor rotor on lathe and machining of marriage coupling.

f.Run out checking of turbine rotor on lathe and machining of marriage coupling.

g.Shot peening of the blade groove of compressor rotor.

h.Inspection of compressor all the nineteen row blades. VT, PT & MT shall be carried out.

i.Reaming of coupling bolt holes on the marriage coupling flange of compressor rotor & Turbine rotor by horizontal boring machine/ lathe machine.

j.Inspection and testing of compressor rotor which includes:

I. VT,MT & UT Inspection of compressor rotor disc grooves and shrink fit portion

II.Hardness test of compressor discs III. Replica test of compressor discs

REFURBISHMENT OF TURBINE ROTOR

k.Dis assembly of turbine rotor.

l.Inspection of turbine rotor disks by VI,MT , hardness & replica

m.Reassembly of turbine rotor.

n.Replacement of spigot ring at torque tube. Replacement of air baffles of turbine interstages.

o.Run out checking of assembled turbine rotor on lathe and finishing of turbine rotor by machining on lathe.

p.Reaming of coupling bolt holes on the marriage coupling flange of the turbine rotor by horizontal boring machine/ lathe machine.

q.Alignment of compressor rotor and GT rotor on lathe by putting hydraulic supports.

r.Coupling of GT and compressor rotor.

s.Run out checking of combine GT and compressor rotor.

t.Assembly of blades on compressor and GT rotor.

u.Slow speed balancing of bladed rotor at 400-700 RPM.

v.Transportation of refurbished rotor from party works to NTPC Auraiya.

Purpose of Inviting EOI

Through this EOI, NTPC, Auraiya intends to identify the reputed probable vendors in India having requisite capability and experience in executing the contracts for refurbishment (CRI) of Gas Turbine rotor

This invitation for Expression of Interest is not intended for empanelment or pre qualification of bidders. Separate NITs shall be floated by NTPC for above mentioned work.

Eligibility

Firms of repute, in India, who have executed contracts in past, for refurbishment of Turbine rotors of Industrial turbines and have the capabilities and competencies to undertake such an assignment, are invited to submit their application for Expression of Interest (EOI).
