Invitation for Expression of Interest for

ISSUE OF DRY FLY ASH FOR DOMESTIC AND EXPORT PURPOSE from Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station, District: Visakhapatnam

NTPC limited, Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station located nearly 40 km from Visakhapatnam at PO: NTPC Simhadri, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh invites expression of Interest (EOI) from interested parties in the prescribed format for issue of DRY FLY ASH from plant silos on chargeable basis and Pond ash from ash ponds located about 6 km from the Power Station. The Fly ash yearly availability is as given below:

Interested parties are requested to submit their requirement as per format given in website-

Fly Ash quality to be supplied would be “as is available basis” from plant silo chute & Ash ponds and interested parties have to arrange transportation at their own bulkers/closed trucks. Users/Agencies are requested to submit their requirement of quantity, duration, schedule of drawl of ash, willingness to pay cost for the ash along with rate at which they are intending to procure the ash from NTPC Silos. Ash will be delivered from silo chutes to bulkers and closed tankers. Pond ash will be issued from the ash ponds from designated locations for enabling users to load in to their trucks and transport by them for further use. The ash issue will be on round the clock basis. A brick plant is under procurement and will be put in operation shortly. (capacity 2000 bricks per hour)

Interests can be submitted for Fly Ash brick / Clay Brick Manufacturing, Ready Mix Concrete, Cement Manufacturing, Road, Rail line embankments, Other Ash based products, Land development, Mine filling, Sea Reclamation, other domestic use and Export purpose.

Besides cost of the ash, interested parties shall be liable and responsible for payment towards any taxes, duties, levies, octroi etc. applicable/enforced (by State/Central Government) from time to time during the tenure of the contract.

Information about NTPC - SIMHADRI

NTPC- Simhadri is the first coastal based power plant of NTPC, which is having a installed capacity of 2000 MW conceived in two stages of implementation, Stage-1 of 1000 MW (2x500MW Units commissioned in 2002) and Stage-2 of 1000 MW (2x500MW Units commissioned in 2011-12). It is situated in the State of Andhra Pradesh under District Visakhapatnam. Nearest Rail Head is Duvvada Junction is about 20 Km away and the Visakhapatnam Airport is about 35 Km away. Also it is situated about 35 Km from Visakhapatnam port and about 25 Km from Gangavaram port. The Primary Fuel coal requirement to this station is met from Thalcher Mahanandi coal fields through long term FSA and coal received from other mines of SECL. Besides indigenous Coal, it is also using imported coal.

About 30 Lakh MT of ash (Bottom ash-20%, Fly ash-80%) is produced at NTPC/Simhadri as by-product in the process of Power generation. Dry fly ash is mainly issued to various Brick Manufacturing Units, RMC Units, Cement Manufacturing Co. and other ash based products.

Present status of dry ash collection:-

Unit-1&2;- Dry Fly Ash is being issued from three Silos (3X500 MT capacity each=1500MT)

Unit-3&4:- Dry Fly Ash is being issued from three Silos (3X1200 MT capacity each=3600MT)

Unit-1&2 Augmentation: - Commissioning of three silos for Dry Fly Ash collection (Two silos of 2x1200MT and One Silo of 1X500MT=2700MT) is in progress.

Dry fly ash is being issued to Brick Industries free of cost as per MOEF. Notification.

Pond ash is being issued free of cost to Clay Brick manufacturers, land & mine filling, road embankment etc.

Rail loading facility is also available at Silos.

NOTE:- As per MOEF Notification on Ash Utilization, dated 14.09.1999 and its subsequent amendments, it is mandatory to use ash and ash based products in all construction activities, RMC, Cement Manufacturing, land development, road embankments, Mine stowing, etc., within the 300KM radius of Thermal Power Plant,
